Maria Luz and Gabriela Huayra Torres

María Luz is the second of seven siblings. Her parents are farmers that only speak Quechuan (a native language spoken in the Andes regions). Gabriela is a happy girl that loves to study. She always comes to Sunday School, Victor says.
Their mom doesn't speak that much but you can see how happy she is about her children being able to go to school. María Luz loves athletics and has participated in several tournaments held in Huancayo.
Victor recalls that two years ago when he first met these two girls they looked so sad in their expression but now he sees them smiling all the time and he thanks God for the wonderful ministry of Word Alive to the poorest and the forgotten ones in Chilca, Huancayo.

Betsi and Marni Taipe Solano

Betsi is 14 years old. She is the oldest of 4 siblings. She in 9th grade at the moment. Betsi and her younger sister Marni want to become nurses when they grow up. Their parents are so thankful for Word Alive because for the last four years their children have been able to go to school thanks to the generosity of the Word Alive sponsors. Their parents were telling Victor (our coordinator) that they would love for their children to become professionals so they can serve the Peruvian people. Betsi and Marni's dad works in construction and because his meager income is not enough, their mom has to work on the fields every day.
